First Annual WD Read-A-Thon

First Annual WD Read-A-Thon
RAT I have some exciting news for you...we are having our first annual Wilmore Davis Read-A-Thon!!  The book collection in the Wilmore Davis library hasn’t been updated in many years.  Our Book Fair raises a little each year to help us keep up with new fiction, but the average age of our entire collection is 1999.  That means that at least half of our books were written before 1999...that’s pretty old!  We definitely need an update!  What better way to raise money for new library books than by having a reading competition?!?!  Our school goal will be 250,000 minutes school-wide!
On Monday, March 2nd students will set a realistic reading goal and get at least one $5.00 sponsorship.  We will then read furiously for two weeks (March 2-13).  We will have prizes for the individual and class that reads the most.  We will also have prizes for the individual and class that raises the most money!  Students will also have the opportunity to try to beat the teachers.  If they do, there will be a mystery prize revealed at our assembly!   Each student that meets their goal will be invited to our first ever school lock-in (an all night party at school)!  All money raised will go towards updating our library collection.
